What is Your Favorite Success
Story?
As the Student Director of the Campus Y, I began a four-month awareness campaign
for a funding initiative voted on by the student body. Knowing that we were
often coined the “best little secret on campus”, we initiated a
print and word-of-mouth campaign to inform other students about the Campus
Y’s programs and what the organization does for the community as well
as for Wash U students. One of the key initiatives was developing elevator
pitches with the key student leaders at the Y.
A major influence on the student
vote is the editorial endorsement from the student
newspaper. The previous year the organization did not
receive a favorable endorsement and consequently lacked
the necessary votes to receive funding. This year we
provided the editors with detailed talking points before
the editorial meeting. We left with a glowing endorsement
and subsequently 120% of the student vote we needed.
In addition, the campaign enabled
all those involved in the organization to reconnect
with and truly take pride in their organization. And
the buzz generated was priceless.
What Are Your Hobbies and
Interests?
I grew up dancing and performing – ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and even
Irish step dancing! I am an avid reader (nothing like a really good book).
My work in London only increased my love for travel. I have always enjoyed
volunteering and look forward to being involved in Chicagoland organizations.
What is the Title of the
Last Good Book You Read?
Having worked for an independent bookstore for a number of years, this is a
tough one. I really enjoyed Bel Canto by Ann Patchett. A gathering of aristocrats/businessmen
is taken hostage by rebel terrorists. The international hostages all speak
different languages and there is only one translator. With a famous opera singer
among the hostages, the only common language among them is her music. The guests
and their captors forge unexpected bonds, and the novel provides a very interesting
look at the nature of human relationships.
Who Are Your Favorite Recording
Artists?
I’m pretty open minded when it comes to music – a glance at my
MP3 player reveals anything from Top 40 and pop to R&B and country. Basically,
if it has a good beat I’m a fan – especially if I can dance to
it. I would love to see U2 in concert one day – maybe in Ireland?
What Are Your Favorite TV
Shows?
Recently I have been watching ABC’s Sunday night lineup of Extreme Makeover
Home Edition (yes, I cry) and Grey’s Anatomy. I also like Will & Grace,
Gilmore Girls, and of course I’m still getting my dose of Friends reruns.
Why Are You a Good
Fit at Tech Image?
I am a good fit at Tech Image because I share the same “self-starter” work
ethic as my coworkers and thrive in a team atmosphere. I bring a diverse mix
of public relations experience to the table and always welcome the challenge
to “think outside the box” in order to help clients meet their
goals. I also enjoy exploring opportunities in new media channels for our clients
and keeping up with the latest trends. But most importantly, I enjoy being
part of such a great team. |
